Wife of tech-journalist Hasan Zakir passes away

Mumtaz Begum Momo (38), wife of Hasan Zakir, former general secretary of Dainik Samakal and former general secretary of Bangladesh ICT Journalist Forum (BIJF) passed away (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). Dainik Samakal Editor Alamgir Hossain, BIJF President Naznin Nahar, General Secretary Sabbin Hasan and colleagues working in the IT sector including Technology Media Guild Bangladesh (TMGB) expressed deep grief and condolence over her death.

In a condolence message, the BIJF president said that every death is a pain. But accepting premature death is very difficult. I did not think that Bhabi would leave so soon. Zakir and Momo have two small children. I don't know what to comfort them. We the entire BIJF family are deeply shocked and saddened. I pray to Almighty Allah to give Zakir and his family the strength to bear this grief and move forward and seek forgiveness for the departed soul of Bhabi.

It is reported that at 1 am on Saturday, she fell ill at her home on Bailey Road in the capital and was taken to Manowara Hospital where the doctors declared her dead. The doctor said that she died of brain hemorrhage.

At the time of her death, Momo left behind numerous benefactors including her husband, daughter Sumermi Hasan and son Jadid Hasan. Her death has cast a pall over the family. The eldest child, Sumarmi is in Class II at Vikarunnisa Noon School and College.

The funeral and burial of Mumtaz Begum Mammo was held at Jalarpar Nayagaon of Meghna Upazila in Comilla after Johor on Sunday. Late Mumtaz Begum Momo completed her graduation and post-graduation from the Department of Philosophy, Dhaka University. Later, she joined a government primary school as an assistant teacher. Later she resigned from teaching.
